Why we organize marathons in San Silvestre? (in Spanish)
Every year on 31st December in many Spanish cities people join marathons celebrating Saint Silvester…but: Who is that Saint?
Saint Sylvester was a Pope of the Catholic Church in the fourth century. The legend tells that when Silvestre was young he buried another Christian who had been killed by pagans. Therefore, the prefect of Rome imprisoned Silvestre and, just after taking a statement, the soldier died choked by a fishbone. That death was taken as a sign from Heaven so that Silvestre was released and become Pope!!!
